Optimism – A Foundation for Self-Improvement

Optimism
is a lifestyle which is characterised by a positive outlook towards the future. Many describe optimistic perspectives as naive and far from reality, but I think that’s not true. Even though optimism can distort reality just as much as pessimism, it is way more motivating and encourages us to be brave and move forward.
So, today let’s look at optimism in our lives!

Mindset \Shift!

Sadly, screaming ’Mindset – Shift!‘ in anime-attack-style won’t be enough to improve your optimistic thinking skills – it‘s not that easy after all.

Motivation, positivity, beliefs, and confidence rarely occur by just deciding to want them as a part of our lives. In order to develop these traits one needs to actively put effort into building them.

Develop a growth mindset and allow yourself to view setbacks as a lesson, an opportunity to gain knowledge.
Believe in your potential. If you don’t have faith in yourself, how could you expect anyone else to.

Be confident in every step you take, embrace change, and don’t be afraid of the unknown. Stay curious about the possible progress you could make by facing new challenges.

Is your glass half full or half empty ?

Being hopeful, positive, and optimistic fuels action. Why else would you try something? Being sure about failing isn’t really the most optimal source of motivation.

Optimism isn’t solely about believing you can achieve something, but about having trust that trying is worth the effort. The most intelligent person I know always says:

There are no problems, there are only solutions.

You can do with that what you want, I myself smiled the first time I heard this saying. Nowadays I understand that this way of thinking greatly enables you to take risks and be confident and optimistic when going through life. Pointing out what’s wrong is easy, finding a way to solve it is not – always focus on solutions not problems.

Keep track of your successes and practice gratitude (eg with a journal) to ensure you are fully aware and value the uplifting and positive aspects of your life.

Optimistic outlooks arise from within; they develop through deep-rooted hope, faith, belief, and trust. To stay positive, one needs to build emotional resilience as a strength when confronted with failures and disappointments.

A positive outlook reduces stress and enables us to focus on our next steps. Many of us tend to catastrophise situations into scenarios far from reality. Overthinking and fear are no rarity in that area.

In the end, most problems aren’t as bad as they seemed at first – you’ve caused yourself stress over nothing, potentially forfeited efficiency and lost a lot of time. Challenge these negative thoughts and replace them with positive ones!

Build emotional resilience, stay adaptable in new situations, embrace the current moment and have faith that you are able to build the future you dream of, no matter what happens next.

Other people play a significant role in our lives. But, even so, many people suffer from severe issues in trusting others, feel alone and left behind in their everyday lives.

Try to encourage yourself to see the good in others, try to trust others’ intentions again. During our teenage years – the time we all try to find ourselves – it’s sometimes hard to trust others. Many will do anything to belong to a certain group, to fit in. But trust me, later on, you’ll be able to find supportive friends; individuals knowing who they are and not relying on external validation anymore.

Collaborating with others is crucial when trying to improve as a collective. We need to exchange ideas to be able to pick the best one for our goals. Not a single person will always come up with the best answer; believing that would not only be arrogant but more so inefficient.

Build supportive networks, find people you can trust and rely on, find like-minded people who encourage and value you. Spread positivity to inspire others and practice being kind, caring and uplifting towards yourself. This will leave you with a good feeling as well.

Limit your exposure to negative influences and focus on uplifting and constructive people in your life.

Broader Perspective

Optimism is not only negatively influenced on personal levels by events happening in our immediate surroundings. Losing optimism because of decisions made by the government, attacks, terror, war, and many more. Especially nowadays with the internet, negative news spread all around the world in the blink of an eye.

It is truly easy to lose hope in humanity.

It is important to remember yourself that these individuals don’t represent everyone of us. Trust in humanity’s potential. Have faith in the possibilities this world has to offer if we just work hard enough.

If you ever feel like hope has left you, take a step back and remind yourself of the beautiful things in life. Find joy in everyday moments to ensure yourself that you’re safe and able to search for a way out of every kind of mess.

Think big and belief in making meaningful contributions with your efforts!

Optimism can be a catalyst for self-improvement. You’ll need a lot of faith when working on yourself, as not everything will go according to plan.
Unexpected insights and turns await you on your journey towards becoming the most true and authentic version of yourself.
Being optimistic in terms of self-improvement means to have trust that the person you are is worth working towards, that the negative sides you’ll discover about yourself can be changed, that you are capable of becoming the best version of yourself.

Embrace optimism and start into a more colourful life now!
